Castes

Pinalta Tinto Cão 2014 was produced entirely from grapes of the Tinto Cão variety. The vines are located in Casal de Loivos, Alijó, and are of adult age, already in full production. Sun exposure is very favorable, and allows the fruits to ripen perfectly.

Harvest and Vinification

The grapes were picked by hand, being destemmed and smashed gently on arrival at the winery. Vinification took place in shale mills, with foot treading and prolonged skin maceration, followed by partial fermentation in French oak barrels. Pinalta Tinto Cão 2014 evolved in barrels for 18 months, until bottling.

Maturation and Storage

Pinalta Tinto Cão 2014 evolved in French oak and American oak barrels for 18 months, in order to keep the most delicate characteristics of the wine. Pinalta Tinto Cão 2014 is a wine of superior quality that can be kept for several years. It should be kept lying down, in a cool and dry place.

Tasting Notes

The color is deep and intense. It presents an intense aroma, marked by ripe fruits and mineral notes. Then there are nuances of coffee, black fruits, cassis, grapefruit, toast, vanilla, pepper, chalk and shale, typical of the variety. In the mouth, it appears as an intense and balanced wine, with soft tannins, good volume and lively acidity. It has a long and fresh finish, and can be consumed now or after evolution in the bottle, for several years.
