Pinalta S17 2015 is an exceptional, intense, aromatic Douro wine.
Pinalta S17 2015 was produced from the fruits of mature vines on the typical banks of the Douro, surrounded by a somewhat rugged landscape, composed of imposing fragments, wild animals and a unique microclimate generated by the proximity of the river.
The appreciative effort of men to harvest these extra mature bunches in an exceptional year and the minimal intervention in the mill has allowed us to discover the genius of the archaic nature of the Douro. The terroir deceives climate change!

Pinalta S17 was produced from old vines of traditional red grape varieties from the Douro region. The grapes were selected in their own vineyards located on the south bank of the Pinhão valley, where they reach balanced and exceptional ripeness and acidity.
Harvest and Vinification
The grapes were picked by hand, being destemmed and smashed gently on arrival at the winery. Vinification took place in shale mills, with foot treading and intense skin maceration, in order to extract the most interesting aromas and structure.
Maturation and Storage
The wines that make up the Pinalta S17 aged in oak barrels for 18 months. After a careful selection, the final batch was prepared, which was bottled and aged in bottle for 12 months. Pinalta S17 is a wine of superior quality that can be kept for several years. It should be kept lying down, in a cool and dry place.
The Pinalta S17 has a deep ruby color, quite intense, almost black.
It presents an intense, spicy and complex aroma, which opens slowly after opening the bottle. The most intense notes are ripe black fruit, with earthy nuances, spices and smoked. There are notes of plum, blueberry, menthol, pepper, cloves, vanilla, chocolate, cedar wood, tar, and mineral notes.
In the mouth, it is an intense and balanced wine, with affirmative tannins, an acidity present, with notes similar to the aroma, with a chocolaty at the end.
It has a long and penetrating finish, and can be consumed now or after evolution in the bottle, for several years.
Pinalta S17 2015 goes well with red meat, game and intense cheese dishes. In order to reach its fullness, it is recommended that the bottle be opened 1-2 hours before serving. It may need decanting since it has not been filtered, for better aging. It should be served between 16º and 18ºC.
